    4bd1 egine speed

    I've. Just checked my max rpm on 4bd1 with an optical tacho and it's only 3000 yet i thought it was supposed to be 3900. Is this normal

    Max is normally 3200 but truck motors can go up to 3500.

    Thanks Brian actually it is 3200. Need to give minor adjustment to the vdo. Almost ready for blue slip. Have a great Christmas travel safe. Thanks for your help very much appreciated.

    My engine is 3,600rpm. It's a JDM 4BD1T but the fuel pump had also been rebuilt and reset by the previous owner.

    You can wind them out to whatever you like. Randy was running his to around 5,000rpm with upgraded valve springs. Personally I think mine sounds bad enough at 3,600.

    mine stops revving when i can't push the pedal any harder, as dougal says i don't really like that sound....except the turbo whistle....the max rpm should be 3200, i haven't measured mine accurately enough though.
