Turbos that work on a 4BD1.

I been running a GT2560 for about 5 years without any issue. I've disconnected the wastegate so now it breathes more freely with upto about 20psi of boost and lower EGTs post turbo.

First thing I noticed after being fitted was the motor reached peak power much earlier and so quicker gear changes. I'm looking forward to fitting a WTA IC as I think it will make a significant difference (the motor runs smoother on cool mornings).

I've briefly driven Inside's Perentie on the beach, which I think has a GT2260 with a ATA IC. I think it ran a bit better/smoother than mine but quite similar (unknown if this was due to turbo, IC or other factors).

Either would be a very good choice IMHO.

Im selling top mount Isuzu manifolds for either T25 or IHI if you need one. I should put them in the markets section.

Can't tell from the photo what the flange type is. Could be the sort of triangular shape BMW flange which is a bit harder to adapt than a T2 flange but still do-able.

They are a ring of vanes inside the exhaust housing which change the angle of exhaust gas into the turbine. Essentially it's a variable A/R ratio housing.

So it mimicks a smaller housing for faster spoolup and more boost at low rpm, but the vanes open up to control boost and to allow more exhaust flow at higher rpm.

The end result is the turbo has a much wider operating range.

3 bolt flages are a PITA in my opinion that's asuming it's the same 3bolt as found on the turbos used on the td5 engine..... Only thing as I have mentioned before is on the 4bd1 that is heavily fueled I am interested to see if the vanes start to have problems with carbon buildup but as I have also said previously I will still be considering them as an option..
Once upon a time I came across a housing design that had a single flap that closes and opened in the turbine housing to reduce the AR but cannot remember the link :(

I found the following link very helpful in understanding how a VNT works. Right at the bottom you can see the vanes in motion.

The turbo manufactures have devised various methods (probably to get around patents) for variable nozzle geometry to achieve similar results (broaden the useful turbine range).

This is a T25 turbo with a 54mm compressor wheel and a 0.67 A/R wastegated turbine housing with a T3 flange. It bolts straight up to the compact Isuzu manifold.

I think these are out of production, but used items and chinese copies are available all over ebay and other shopping sites.

Once again this will most likely be a imitation Garrett to4z,e etc etc are usually fake unless expensive...
