    Isuzu 4BE1 head bolt tension

    51, 65 FT/LBS, +90-120°

Been looking for head bolt tension on 4BE1
    Found the above info
I assume 51 is the first tension , then 65 but don't know that the +90-120° means and don't know how to achive it.
The other thing should I get new head bolts like they do for 300tdi engines.
The engine has a small air bubble coming into the header tank. I have been told they don't crack heads, so i think I should do the gasket and see how it goes.
These are the info links I found

    My sept '88 manual says:

    1st step (lb.ft / Nm)
    50.6 / 68.8

    2nd step
    65 / 88.3

    3rd step
90-120 degrees (you need to buy or make a degree wheel to do this - quite simple).

It says that old head bolts can be reused and gives torque settings for new and old bolts (for earlier engines using the non angular method). I cannot see how that would change, and the angular method would compensate for new/old.

The old method says 83.2 / 104.5 for reused bolts, however as Bush65 has explained many times, angular tightening methods are much better.

A degree wheel is only needed if you don't know what a 1/4 turn looks like?

Good one being an airframe and engine fitter I would probably loose sleep if I did it without a special tool.

That's a good thing in anyone who works on aircraft.
