    FWIW

I have been told - by someone in a position to know - name escapes me - that there were 12 civilian Counties fitted with factory turbo Isuzus (I heard of one for sale in SE Qld a couple of years ago), and that there were a number of 4 door Perenties similarly fitted

......Some pics of the engine bay could be enlightening, does it have factory airconditioning? BAE are retrofitting some 110's with turbo engines, (bags one of these at auction), but this is only recently, and definitely not as far back as '86. Post some pics, it would be interesting......

thanx for all the in put.ive had a few problems with the internet so i will post some pics when i get a chance.

iwas compairing it to a friends 4bd1t yestrerday and found that mine has a 5 speed manual, the blow off valve is still in intake pipe, it has factory aircon and a fuel control box that wont increase the amount of fuel going in to the engine until it see boost pressure.

    ill add picks soon

    thanx brett

The 5-speed will be an LT85 that was fitted from 1985-on
The "fuel control box" is more correctly termed an Aneroid boost compensator

the early turbo with waistgate had a boost fuel retarder--as it comes on boost it reduces the fuel quantity to reduce smoke.

all the late 80's i worked on had spin on filters.
the bonnet was reworked with heat shields
steel plated heater pipes mounted on exhaust mount bolts and was junk..
engineering tended to fitt rubber has p clipped to shock covers.

2 i worked on had the A/C removed.and defender steel protatypes units fitted.I think you find none are factory built but factory retrofited.
an engine number on the original sale papers will sort out when it was fitted.

original turbo has the cold air intake of the air cleaner on the right side same as non turbo but the rest of the filter is reversed.

water pump and thermostat housing is different to na engine.hoses are different.early engines have visco hub.

the storey i was told was that these would have enough horse power to run on goveror in top gear-so that would moke it exceed the max ADR top speed and require speed limiter to suit the tyres/brakes-

the original engine in crate had bungs for the heater hoses.
it doesnt need the hose in the system as the bypass is on the other side.

Not being rude but you mean reduces fuel until boost increases is what I'm assuming you meant.
Feel free now to pick me up on my spelling mistakes ! You could be there for awhile though haha
I'm curious about what Airbox setup was used you wouldn't have any photos by any chance ?
    Regards

Looks like an IHI turbo on the top-mount manifold. It's interesting to see they flipped the wastegate actuator for clearance.

My engine is essentially the same but came from a 1986 truck, I'm missing the Isuzu badge on the rocker cover and my manifold was cut with the neck flipped.
My thermostat housing is different also.
