    Isuzu Running Rough

I know it's all relative but I could swear the the Isuzu feels like it's running rougher than normal on idle , when warmed up.

Also , after sitting , idling at the lights for a few minutes , it blows smoke on take off.

It doesn't normally do that , as the D gas injection seems to clean things up a fair bit.

It is probaly due for a full set of air, fuel and oil filters.

Any ideas on who sells a full set and how much.

    Pete,
If it's due for filters anyway, it's certainly worth changing them to see if it makes a difference before investigating further.

There are various fuel filters getting around on Isuzu's so you'll have to check what you have, spin on or cartridge.

If you have twin spin on oil filters, you can get Ryco or equivilant at most auto accessories sellers.

If you have the standard 'Landy' type cartridge oil filter I think it's cheapest getting them from Jap truck spares sellers rather than from Isuzu, or especially Land Rover. Someone might like to confirm this.......if asking for an oil filter element from a truck spares seller to suit a Landy version of the 4BD1, you have to ask for the industrial engine filter, otherwise you might get a different size O ring (I think)

Same with air filter, if you have Donaldson, get them from truck spares.

    Cheers, Murray

    rough running

Another thing to think about is the varying quality of diesel. Summer mix wont run so well in the colder weather. I religously change fuel filter every service, learnt that the hard way in a truck, it actually imploded the fuel filter!
The spin on filters are available from Repco or Bursons. I have found that Shell diesel is slightly better at the moment. Run a good quality injector cleaner the next full tank.
    Good luck
    Cheers Dave

Yep that makes sense now.... I have been wondering why some O rings weren't right. Too bad I bought 4lots at once. Ohh well...
