    4Bd1 differences

Hi all just a question about differences in the Isuzu diesels in a county. I am looking at a county that wad petrol and has had a 4bd1 put in it out of a truck. It was not a factory fit upcis there much difference between a l/rover issued 4b and one out of a truck . I'm just a bit carefully on buying something that wasn't factory. Any advice or experience welcom

    Luke

Plenty of threads out there on this but quick answer...
Plenty of people have done conversions and most are just as good as factory as most that take on the task know what they are doing...
Turbo kits for these motors are quite rare in my books as I have never seen one....
Nothing wrong with these motors being turboed and I would say are probably the strongest motor of its size in the world...
Factory turbo motors have some differences but easier for you to do a search...

The easiest way to tell a factory turbo motor from an aftermarket turbo motor is the oil drain. The factory T motors have a cast in hole near the bottom of the dip-stick where the drain-pipe bolts on. Non turbo engines have a cast rib through here instead so the turbo drain will be somewhere else.

Yes the factory turbo motors have piston squirters. But I'm not aware of anyone melting a piston with an aftermarket turbo, so it's not a real concern.

If reverse is below 5th, it should be fine for a good while (or a long time depending on box and how it is driven), if reverse is beside 1st, then it won't last.

This is what dougal is reffering to about the oil drain this is off a Non turboed Isuzu you can see where the bolt holes are but no oil drain hole...
