LT 95

Ring andersons landrover in hervey bay I got my stage 1 gears off them. Not cheap though cause they can only get brand new. I'm thinking of changing my lt95 to the rr gears if your intersted and not in a great hurry. Have a fairy over drive for the lt 95 too.

i assume that the stage one gears are .996 and that with the OD it is all a bit to tall?

i have a .996 gearbox coming out and i am replacing with a gearbox from a V8 county with and OD. i think the .996 may be a bit tall and the V8 will be a bit to low. according to calculator posted above the 101 gears look good. but then there are all the RR gears as well. the 1.113 set look attractive

Not quite correct, the do come in 1.123 (28/43 teeth)as well, but you can change it to whatever ratio you want by getting the desired gears machined to accept the taper bearings (that's if you have access to a lathe):)

Im running 1.113 high range with 33" rubber and doing about 2500 at 100kmh. The 0.996 gears have a greater tooth angle than the 1.113, this causes large amounts of side thrust on the intermediate shaft, creating lots of heat. The std gears run on needle roller bearings in plastic cages, these can melt and block the oil galleries in the intermediate shaft. The 1.113 gears have straighter cut teeth, dont create the side thrust, but are noisier.
If you are going to use the 0.996 gears they need to be the tapered roller bearing set.

what did you pinch the 1.113 gears out of?

Rangie LT95 from 78-79 to about 83 I think, had that ratio, not sure of exactly what years. Available new for around $450 retail.

I am going to be buying a stage 1 soon and bringing it back to Melb. and would like to do this conversion before doing so (from 1.3 to .996). Does the stage 1 have the tapered bearing (probably no I guess). Mainly going to use the truck on road, would you see this as a problem? thanks

I had the fairly O/D on L95 running 235/85's and it was just nice sitting on 100kph. I wanted the LT85 to be the same in 5th, but listened to the wrong people and ended up with too high a ratio.
If you are going to up the power any, I would not trust the O/D behind the Isuzu. The teeth just look too small.
I used mine in WA when I did lots of road miles but always kept the other bits with me when incase it failed anywhere.
