Thread: 4BD1T Alternator Mounting Bracket - Where to Find?

No idea on the LR numbers, but for mine I got an Isuzu bracket from a truck wrecker.
There are a couple of different styles. One mounts the alternator down around the middle of the block and the other has it sitting at the top of the block.
If you want to run an aircon compressor or a converted one for endless air etc you will need the high mount bracket.

Where are you getting the 70A alternator from?

Edit: just realised its a Stage1. Mine is also a Stage1 engine, so your bracket will be the low mount one.

Hi Steve,
The alternator I have is from a Nissan (sorry, that's what happens when you get free stuff), but it has the same foot mounting as the 12V 70A Hitachi alternator LR170-401 and overall, looks almost identical apart from the vac pump being 30 degrees CCW.
Yup, low mount ... the stage1 alternator is a pita to work on.
I'll hang out for the Isuzu # at this stage, that might save a few (read many) phone calls.

Hi Daryl,

I modified my bracket to accept the GQ TD42 alt'. I know you don't want to hack your bracket but if you want a photo or two just PM me and I'll send them on. It was very simple and vac pump screwed straight on after I shortened the drain hose. Only thing I had to do was machine my pulley to suit the wider belt.

I modified my braket to suit the later type.. with a hacksaw.

I cut 20mm off one end, but kept it and used it as a washer so I could use the same length bolt - or use the different mount.

I'm pretty sure my alternator is from a TD42.

I trust you received those pictures this morning?

I had trouble taking a picture of the bracket as my gaurds are fitted at the moment. As was suggested I took about 20mm from the back of the bracket to fit the GQ alt, I took an extra 1.3mm off and spaced it forward by using a washer (1.3mm) to ensure the belt tracked true.
