    Another Turbo Build! Questions

    Hey All,

I wanted to pop a few pictures up of my second favorite Landy, Bruce! I did want to post a build thread but its just to much work ( I'm a little lazy ) so here are some photos.

I finished today at my turbo oil return (Done at least 5 day already). I was going to sneak a 1/2" drain through my pump cover as others have, but! there is only room for a 3/8" return, so, its back to the school for me!

I'm going to pull the sump off next week and drill the return hole for my bypass filter anyway (thanks RAR110), so might look at modifying the sump instead, add a 1/2" return and baffle? Any thoughts?

Anyway, hope you can see pictures below?

Turbo is a GT2056v from a Jeep Cherokee. Just because it was laying about my garage! Fingers crossed!!!

    Thanks, Flagg.

Unfortunately not much room up there, there is only 20mm clearence between that pipe and the bonnet

I figure if I need the intercooler that I can add a little front mount later. Plumbing is just a pita and I'm only chasing 100hp or so.

    Cheers, Tristan

    Very tidy!!! Well done...
Oil drain for me was the hard part as I was going to put a fitting in the sump directly below the turbo however I was concerned about oil level when sitting the car into a deep rut offroad it will cover the oil drain which turbos do not like...I ended up running it into the alloy cover where that block breather is located... Not ideal but it's the best I could do...the perfect drain is where the factory turbo drain is located.... As for the bypass filter setup you need to drill into the block it's easier and can be done with engine in car...

    Hey c.h.e.i.f

Thanks, I'll keep that cover in mind. I was planning to drill a hole in the block skirting for the return. I can't remember how much material is left hanging below the mains. Little concerned about it fracturing later on, your idea might be a safer one.

I considered drilling the block where the factory turbo drain enters (between these 2 tapped holes to the right of the dipstick)

I had my concerns with doing so...the oil drain on a turbo is just as important as the oil supply so diameter should never decrease so that would mean a 1/2 hole in the block which I think may create a weakness (may not but it's possible) where as the factory turbo block is cast designed for the drain...

    Nice work!

IMHO it is better to convert to the turbo breather system. To do this you need a turbo tappet cover assembly and a blanking plate in place of the side breather.

Thats a good idea. do you have a PN for it? I can only find one for the gasket. (8944625590 - http://www.aulro.com/afvb/isuzu-land...ference-2.html)

No, same size and location to stock item. Was removed from GQ TD42.

    Cheers, Tristan
