The ones that have "3.9 DIESEL" on the doors are a dead giveaway ;)
The 3.6 [4BE1] is also not a bad motor.

I have my eye on the 4JG2-T as well.
I assume the 4HG1-T is a bit overkill? :o
[quote=jakeslouw;1763182]The 2 for an isuzu denotes INdirect injection. Not as efficient, and heads are not as strong. 4JG2 engines have been known to have head issues. I would prefer a 4JB1 instead.
The 4H series of engines are great, however the only problem is that the engine is "reversed" - the timing gears are at the back, and all the usual gear driven ancillaries are at the back of the engine. Makes like much easier for servicing in a cabover of FC vehicle, but in a normal landie you would need a huge hole in the firewall and it would be a PITA to service. The early models also had a different gear tooth size and were prone to stripping IP (or PS ?) pump drive gears.
Yes - I would fit the 2.8L 4JB1T over a 3.1L 4JG2T. Others may disagree. We did work out that it should be possible to fit a DI head and pistons to a 4JG engine, but a lot of work...
Just make sure you get an industrial/truck 4JB with timing gears, not a timing belt - they came with both options.
What about the 4JG1T ?
Or is that only available as an industrial engine ?
