I've got a bit of stutter around 2800 RPM, and others have reported similar with putting turbos on originally NA engines.

Does your stutter remain as long as you're at full throttle or does it seem to clear again as revs increase?

Save your time and money mate. My NA pump has the same stutter which I have lived with for 10 years now. My pump guy was saying a Govenor mode will fix it, but hey if your keen to rip the pump off, go for it.

A (very) small stutter on hard acceleration is a common problem.

How small are we talking about?

    Question

Well its not much but sometimes its worse othertimes its hardly there (much much better since I changed the hand prime pump) ...i would just perfer it not at all.i personally think the prob. on driving some more still have problem stutter .....I tried this test. removed the fuel return hose at a join near the water trap put the end in a clear bottle and started the engine small air bubble lots came out continuously.. I ran the engine for a few min. and watched I filled 3 bottles of 2.5 ltr each total 7.5 ltr bubles bubbles .... next test I bipassed the water trap with a barb brass joiner ..result ..same bubbles out the return line in the bottle...as I see it the air is more likely to be sucked in pre lift pump so that leaves inthis situation the possibilitys of air ingress as the tank hose joint. the hose it self. the lift pump itself . Which is my question is it possible for the lift pump to leak air ?????? I have never seen one apart and my manual doesnt show much ....... it how be very interesting if you others with the stutter problem did the same test ..

Have you tried using an air gun to put a little pressure in the line at the tank end and (after a de-greasing/clean) the suction type leak you're looking for should appear.

    Just my 2 cents.

I have also had the spin on fuel filters come apart at the crimp under the rim on the screw type end of the filter. After a $40 filter replacement in the middle of nowhere, super crap just replied that the particular ryco filter had a recall on them .

My NA 4BD1-T was surging at high revs with mild throttle but when i flattened the pedal it stopped. I to thought lift pump and fit a new one with new seals but problem persisted. From watching egt, boost pressure and exhaust smoke the surging seems to be at the transition from a richer mixture to lean and this is with fuel screw removed and a non wastegated turbo (also had same surging with previous smaller turbo). Its like the surge happens when the pump has reached its limit at that certain rpm and throttle position.

No real results yet. So I decided to get a second option today. I rang a injector guy in the north of the state and gave him a quick summary to date .he said straight off its the auto advance on the front of the pump slipping .from want he said it advances injector timing as revs come up .in my case it being whorne the timing is likely retarded as well making the problem worse .any experience here or ideas welcome.

Both my turboed N/A 4BD1's had the same hesitation

Only thing I could suggest which I never tried was an electric lift pump, puts the supply at positive pressure as opposed to vacuum, but I just lived with it, last one had a VNT at 30psi and the fuel screw removed, max fuel delivery from the pump
