Is it alright to stack shims or best to use just one the correct size?

Just doing my valve clearances (T motor)and noticed end play on the end rocker of about 2mm. So checked the rocker shaft on my NA, and the rocker shafts are different.
NA motor has that end clamp the that bolts to the head, T motor just floats freely with just a circlip holding the rocker on. Am a little concerned about the differences.

    Anyone know?

No just you have a little circlip holding the rocker on on the T motor vs the end cap that bolts to the head. The T motor has the footing spot for the end cap to bolt to is all.
    Was curious about the differences.
Its all back togethor now so i obviously got over it😊

I have the circlip and not the pedestal on my NA motor. Strange.

I have a tapping noise that sounds like tappets, just did the clearances and they seemed fine. Just saw this thread so will have to check the endfloat.

How load were these tapping noises? Mine was quiet to start with but can be heard in the cab when idiling now...

Had a mate who is a mechanic to look at it and he doesnt believe its big end but he is not sure what to check next.... getting a bit nervous!!

    How loud?

It can be hard to describe. It's not about how loud it is, it's more that it is a different frequency and can be heard through all other noises.

Was meant to say how loud.

Mine can now be heard in the drivers seat with the window down but not when accelerating (I guess to much other noise).

Its definitely a different sound to other engine noise, just need to figure out where it comes from before i have major issues

    Cheers

Finally checked the endfloat, mine was already shimmed but still has 0.66m clearance and the front has .4mm. So now i just have to source some shims and fingers crossed this resolves the ticking
