Replacement County AC Evaporator and Heater Core

Does any one know part number / supplier for the heater matrix and AC Evaporator that goes in the big old county bulkhead blower unit?

I'm hoping there may be generic replacements or alternative part numbers that are easily sourced here in Aus?

Heater matrix is MUC6050 on microcat (discontinued and getting hard to find)... nothing listed for evap core.

Thanks flagg, yeah thats what I have on microcat. There is no evap core part number given - strange.

I don't think they sold many rovers with these AC/heat units in the UK but so far that's the only place that has the heater matrix listed. Last of the genuine stock, no aftermarket options.

I was hoping Australia would have different part numbers or alternative pattern/oem options.

How odd.. Do you have one to measure? I'm sure you could get one that is close. If you don't let me know and I'll measure the evaporator up for you.

I was on a website that had hundreds of evaporators listed recently.. I'll try and find it..

I'm hoping i wont need a new one for a while yet. I am about to install this unit and the internals are not looking tip top - I was just checking I can get replacement cores should either one decide to let go.

If someone knows of a good source for replacements it would be re-assuring to know. At the moment it looks like I would need to measure up and go on the hunt in hope of finding something suitable, cheap and widely available.

Thanks Vern, I'll bear that in mind. I should get the unit on and full of coolant this weekend - if there are any leaks I'll be in touch.

The box is such a pig to open up because of all the sealant that's been used so if I have to do it I would prefer to replace with a new matrix. I suppose beggars cant be choosers.

    110 CSW Evap

I haven't had time for a proper introduction to this forum yet, but will try to soon.

I have an '84 110 CSW Isuzu and did find a part number for the AC Evap unit in my travels (I will try to find it again for you). Sadly an original LR replacement was listed at around 2.5K GBP - near enough to 4K AUD that the change might just buy you a cup of coffee! The only heater cores I could find new were from someone on evilbay in the UK who has a couple, but lists as only posting to EU countries :-( A Rangie classic heater core might fit - haven't got around to measuring one up yet though.

A project for my CSW is to completely replace the AC with a system that is better suited to the properties of R134 as these small capacity systems need all the help they can get. On first measurement it looks as though a (late) '01 to '04 Toyota Corolla Evap unit would fit very nicely and the expansion valve/hoses should be in about the right spot to fit with minimal modification to the housing. It's not a priority at the moment but once I start playing some more I will post what I am doing.
