Alright, I'll admit it - I use them sometimes. But only when it is really cold.. -6 or more. If it cranks over 3 times without starting I'll give it 20 or 30 seconds of plug heat and then it will start on the first crank.

I find they do help on those really cold mornings in our freezing climate too. I don't think mine have worked well for the last 2 years but hasn't mattered that much anyway. Not sure how important this is, but I remember reading in the Australian supplement that came with the Isuzu landys not to hold them on for more than 10 or 15 seconds??

Thanks for the replies guys, I am in the midlands of Tassie and do have to start for work at 05:00 some days, it can be very, very cold at 530 Meters ASL at that time here so plugs are needed to save battery drain. seems I have the issue solved now so thanks again all :)
