    rr fuel pump removal

Had a search but couldn't find what I was after. What's the go with the removal of the in tank fuel pump in a range rover? I understand you have to remove it as the Isuzu doesn't need it, and I have pulled mine out, but what bits do I take off? Obviously the pump, but then what do you do to the pickup?
    Cheers

I'm quite sure you could fabricate a new pickup approximately the same length as the pump and fit it in instead. Or just acquire an assembly from a suitable diesel Disco if it's post 1991 or a carb RRC if its early.

Just pull the guts out of your pickup and reuse it.

Make sure to pull the sock strainer off the end of the pickup while you have it out, will save you time and heartache later on.

Now the pick up runs down through the centre of the pump, so do I do as bee utey said and pull it off and extend the pick up? Was mainly wanting to see what others have done, I.e. jc, the mutt, etc..

From memory (was a long time ago) pretty sure when I removed the electric pump I just added a piece of fuel line to reach to the bottom of the tank. Put a "V" cut on both sides to stop suction blockage. You can leave the electric one in there if you want to until it ****s itself, actually makes it easier to bleed the lines when you do fuel filter changes.

Well that wasn't hard. So just remove the whole pump, stick a bit of fuel line on that extends to the bottom of the canister and put it back in.?
