    Manifold for intercooler?

I was at the wreckers yesterday to get the twin oil filter off a buggered 4BE1 he had.
This was lying there , so got it too.
I seem to remember a few years back someone was going to build a WTA intercooler into this manifold.
    Did this come to fruition?

    Paging doctor ben!

I suspect he's made as much progress as I have with intercooling.

    Dougal is unfortunately correct.

My list of jobs for this weekend (and the Xmas new year break):
    Replace clutch on D1
    Install a kitchen
    Rennovate a bathroom
Then next on the list is to put the 110 in the shed for some much needed maintenance and upgrades.

I have finished milling the top and ends off the manifold. The next step is to weld it all up.

Ah good o . Keep us posted. Ill hang on to it then.

The other option I was thinking of was a WTA under the aircleaner where my cross pipe goes then hang the radiator bit off the underside of the bonnet with flexi water pipes that allow the bonnet to be opened. Then cut a vent in the bonnet either to the front to catch the air like all the others or to the rear to get the pressure from the windscreen.

From time to time I have gone looking for one of those inlet manifolds, but turned up zilch.

My plan is to see if the plenum helps across the power band, my gut feeling says it would, plus it will make a neater installation with a front mounted air to air intercooler.

Also on the list of jobs is a CFD simulation of flow through a standard and plenum-type manifold...

Which option has the best air flow? I've had a compact WTA IC, pump & Falcon AU aircon condenser sitting around for a few years now. The intention was to fit it the IC under the air cleaner where my cross over pipe is.

Dunno, probably in front of the rad. My rad is getting a bit fragile in the fins so dont want to restrict the flow. Some have put compact looking IC rads on top under the bonnet.
    Still thinking about it.
What compact WTA IC have you got? Is it one of the Frozenboost ones?

    Yes Keith, probably too small.

When I was looking at how to install a W2A IC my preference was under the aircleaner... but my (custom R380) bell housing is seems larger than the LT95 so it wasn't going to work. Others may have better luck.

It would be a neat job though, and easy to modify the aircleaner bracket to contain a W2A IC and the piping would be pretty simple too, as long as you had docked your sump for a low exhaust dump pipe, or had it out the side as per original route.

If I could be bothered it would be great to make up a nice custom ally IC that replaced the air cleaner bracket and had all the bits in the right places.. but over the was just sooo much easier.
