Truck engines are viscous fan. Price on them is horrendous.
I went to electrics and vibration was noticeably reduced.
I was wondering why the isuzu 4bd1 isn't fitted with a viscous fan- seems silly to be a running a fan constantly if not needed and sucking power and economy. anyone fitted a viscous fan and noticed any improvements in power and economy?

I'm surprised a viscous fan would be that expensive- did you notice power/economy improvement with electric fan.
This was ~10 years ago and they wanted $700. I think my viscous unit was fine anyway but I wanted to go electric.
No noticable power/economy improvement for me, but because my viscous was working this would be expected. Mainly vibration reduction, noise wasn't big as at higher rpm the engine drowns out the fan.
I've seen a few 4bd2 viscous couplings on ebay from the states - AUD$150-200 delivered. Anyone know if they would fit?
Good chance a bare fan (without the viscous) could be had from a wrecker here for not too much.
