Air filter solutions for turboed 110s

I need to replace my air filter on my turboed 4bd1 and have been searching the forums for ideas. I like Vern's and Dougals setup but wonder if it would fit in the standard spot in a 110.
Has anyone had success out there and would like to post photos of their setup...

Got measurements for the standard setup?
I cranked out a solidworks model of the donaldson housing over the break, so I have ALL the measurements if anyone needs them.

Why the filtration system you have is fine.. (maybe its the aircon getting in the way? :P)

Have to agree with Dave. I have the standard Donaldson filtration and have not tripped the indicator yet even pushing up to 20 psi. Why change something that works ok.

If the original has been somehow murdered, are direct replacements available?

I am pretty sure the standard one is still available although I seem to remember you have to purchase as a genuine part from LR only (at inflated price). There might be some s/h ones around shortly with the number of u/s perenties coming thru the auctions.

OEM from donaldson second hand yes, new no.

the metal can has been superseeded with a plastic one not unlike the one in the image.

from what I can guess its not quite going to fit in the oem brackets as the metal straps will be a fraction too short due to the plastic housing being just a little thicker and larger in diameter than the metal can.

nothing some love with a welder, grinder and pallet banding wont be able to fix.

That was my main point with replacement. The Donaldson I've got (not yet fitted) may well be the nearest replacement for the original.

The main advantage with the newer ones is filter fitment. They slide straight in and seat/seal in one hit. No through bolt or wing-nuts etc.

yeah, till you try to do up the three clips......

I prefer the through bolt setup for this application, if you had unfettered access to the cap then the clip down ones are the ducks nuts.

Don't the stock steel cases still have the clips to hold the end cap. The plastic cases have the options of clips or twist lock.
