Adjusting clutch: suspected clutch drag (percentile)

    Hi folks,

New here but have been reading for a while and truly amazed at the wealth of knowledge.

Ok just wanted to see if anyone could possibly give me a hand. Got a Perentie soft top a while ago (absolutely love it) but haven't had much time to have a play due to work. My issue is a very sticky gearbox especially putting it in reverse it's quite an art with a pinch of brute force is this normal? But my main issue is down shifting basically it doesn't downshift except for 4 to 3 and revs have to be perfect. This problem goes away although still requires a lot of force when double shifting but from what I've read on here and few other places it should be a full synchro box. I read some previous threads ect and this led me to believe the clutch could be dragging.

Now I want to adjust my clutch but I'm going to be honest I have no idea how, I'm assuming (don't shoot me is I'm wrong) I remove the slave cylinder and adjust, nuts maybe, on back of pushrod. I would greatly appreciate any input, tips and tricks and what not to do if I'm even going in the right direction?????

Also I would really like some workshop manuals, documentation ect for future use. I realize I probably can't get anything for the Perentie but stuff that will help workshop manuals for other similar vehicles with LT95's basically anything that will help me to learn about my new truck.

    Thank you,

Sounds to me like the clutch is not dragging in fact it sounds more like the clutch is not disengaging fully to let the box spin free from the flywheel which would keep the syncro's meshed in tight and not let you down shift

I would start by bleeding the clutch and filling with new fluid because the only real adjustment on the whole set up is between the pedal and the master cyl the push rod has adjustment and if your clutch pedal is at the right hight same as the brake and it has good feel all the way to the floor I would be bleeding it first

The slave cyls in the LT95 are a bit prone to pitting and leaking and this will case the problems your having tho if it was dragging the clutch it would be slipping under load or up hill

check the pedal free play on the clutch MC pushrod. if its got no free play then the clutch hydraulics havent been filledup properly and you may not be getting full travel down at the slave.

if you have correct free play on the pushrod then all points as put forth by lokka are appropriate.

This is a semi common problem caused IMHO by tradies who think the push rod adjustment will cure a dragging clutch issue if they wind it up tight so that it pushes the MC further. Works right up untill the SC seal weeping causes it to loose fluid which cant be replaced because the MC never opens up the fast fill port.
