Hi. About 1/2k from home my alternator light comes on & at the same time the motor starts stops, start stops, you get the message. Coast into the drive with the motor idling, pop the bonnet only to see the stop cable turn it self off for good. Start to look for the problem only to find that the earth cable had broken off the battery terminal. The 8.mm bolt had broken off the clamp at the base, a closer look & it almost looked as if it had melted. Fixed the cable, then the motor would not start very easily. Climb under to have a look at the engine earth, can see one end but not the other as it is up on top of the gear box. So got a new cable 300.mm long & fitted a new earth. All back to normal.
