    Front drive shaft

Hi I am trying to remove the front drive shaft of my stage 1 3.9D but do not know whether the rear uni unbolts off what appears to be an adaptor plate bolted to the output shaft or the adapter plate comes off first

Ok managed to get the drive shaft off. There seems to be lateral (up down) play in the output shaft. My Stage 1 supplement shows a roller bearing supporting the output shaft so I am not sure what I will find as I dig deeper

Been a while since I had mine apart but think its a ball bearing rather than roller. Possibly a metric one IIRC.

    stage 1 drive shaft

Stage 1 front drive shafts should have a double cardan joint at the gearbox. The adaptor plate on yours is to put a std front shaft on. Front flanges on stage 1 gearboxes had larger pcd than std lt95's. The double cardan joints are very expensive to replace.

From the looks of it you have a adapter plate and are using a 110 propshaft.
    Much better idea.
I have the same floating around the shed as it was cheaper to buy a shaft than the DC joint.
