Hey all,
I've recently fried my LT230 in Jindabyne (i'm in Sydney) and I'm trying to figure out what to do now.
I've sourced a 1:1.4 box from a V8 which will get me home from Jindabyne and intend to install it next weekend - though I'm looking for a more permanent solution.
AFAIK - my 89 LT85 county had a 1.003 TC sitting behind it - these seem to be properly rare - so what are my best options here? It sounds as if the 1.4 box will be way too highly geared, and a Disco series 1 box running 1.2 might encounter the same issues.
What would you do?
Is indeed - interesting... It must have been swapped out
Perhaps I'll find a disco box and strap a turbo on her down the line for the highways

1.003 3speed auto ,- 1.192 early v8 rrc --,1.410 Def,- 1.211 Disco A few other rare ones but think these are the common ones
There is some discussion on the issue.
The 36D (and higher) 1.211 late Disco 1 box do not handle the 4BD1 very well because of the tooth size.
You are probably better looking for an earlier 28D 1.222 box from an early D1/RRc R380 V8 or 29D & 32D Defender 90. They are not the "Quiet" box but are stronger. (AFAIK Not cross drilled)
The 1.003 (14D & 26D) were fitted to the 1983-1985 RRc with TF727 3 speed auto, They may also have made a later RRc appearance in the early 1990s (26D). (AFAIK the 1.003 are not cross drilled.)
You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.
Isuzu County's with LT85 and Lt230 were 1.003 as well.

Afaik the 1.003 was only fitted to auto rrc 83-85 with TF727 , and no V8 lr was fitted with a 1.4 tc.
