Have I gone senile or what?????

Well today I parted company with my 1986 110 ex bicentennial dualcab. My heart sank as it was driven out my driveway and I nearly called it all off at the last minute . I bought this vehicle back in '93 as a stock standard V8 LT85 5 speed dualcab with the intention of customising it to what I wanted. This included a gal military type chassis, bull bar and Thomas T8000lb military winch with low mount torque limited PTO assembly. I have completely rebuilt this vehicle from ground up and included such things as a 1995 Isuzu 4BD1 with T03 Garrett water cooled turbo, Military spec LT95A with 0.996 TRB intermediate shaft, Maxi drive rear RFSV disc brake diff, RFSV front diff with Trutrac, extended the roof to cover the rear tray and done numerous other mods to make it what I wanted. As I am nearing retirement I have purchased an ex army 6X6 and am transforming it to my needs for some travelling in remote areas and gold prospecting - modifications include HD radiator, Red Dot roof aircon, onboard air system, extra fuel/water tanks under the tray as well as 2 extra spares, extra gauges to monitor boost, EGT, RPM, engine oil pressure, low water alarm and air pressure as well as a 1300kg Palfinger crane in the tray, Codan 9323 from the old one etc. I still don't know if I have done the right thing but I know it has gone to a good home and possibly some on here may see it travelling OZ towing a caravan in the near future. What do you reckon - have I gone mad?

Mate many many more years of landrovering to come in that 6bee. You can only drive one at a time too. Still heart wrenching to part with it but as you said it has gone to a good home and sounds as if it will be loved as much as before.

You must be the most un-senile person i know also brian!😀

(The 110 had the engine removed today to start the long ago planned liners and pistons. Head off, and the bores at 750k look great! A bit glazed and obviously worn but what a fantastic life it has led!)
The Isuzu 110. Solid and as dependable as a rock, coming soon with auto box😊

Hi JC, I know what you mean, I do love driving the 6BY even though it is not as fast as the 110 but at the end of the day it is not that far behind and it really is a pleasure to drive, it steers as straight as an arrow. It uses a bit more fuel but really who gives a **** with the payload it will carry and the simplicity and reliability it delivers. I really am looking forward to some big trips in it. Might even get down your way one day!

Don't leave it too long or we'll cross paths. We'll be heading up YOUR way soon enough!!! ☺ lying under the county today undoing the bellhousing bolts i was filled with a sense of joy knowing it'll be back on the road soon. Really missed driving a landy it has been sleeping for a year almost waiting for this heart operation. I am happy you are following the prospecting dream. Was something my parents did with us kids during school holidays in the WA goldfields and the excitement of metal detecting and alluvial spotting is still alive and kicking for this little black duck ☺☺☺

Hi Pete, yes it wasn't supposed to happen this early, I was going to wait until I had the 6BY finalised but a mate was looking for one and bidding on RFSV's on AFM auctions and really wanted what mine had so I reluctantly decided to part with it early. It will be looked after I am sure.

No worries Dave, I have had a few rums tonight after parting company with my 110 - it helps numb the pain. The conversion is no sweat, let me know if I can help you with that
