What p/n fleetguard filter? I've got a modified fleetguard housing that I thought is the same filter element as the landy one. Filters I've bought have been full mesh with plastic vortex thingy on one end. I just swap it to the other end of the filter and all good.

Had injectors done the other day. They tested them beforehand and 3 out of 4 were hosing badly. Haven't got any accurate fuel economy figures but I can definitely say I'm using less and thats while towing a boat on the return to Broome. Should be even better unloaded. Also noticed a definite reduction in EGTs prior it would max at 700 and now around 610. Engine used to quickly spike to high figures and its now a gradual climb
Chatting to the fella apparently these injectors only have an expected life of 150,000 so I can definitely recommend doing them, especially with a turbo

Interesting, I'd always thought they were good for much more than that.
Great that it's made an improvement. Maybe I should get the ones in the county done. Only been in there 35 years - do you think it's worthwhile??

Nah, if they are going ok I wouldn't touch them. If you filter your fuel good they should last almost forever. I would only get they tested if I experience a power drop or rough running or smokey.Quote:

It is now approaching 600,000km, and I am thinking I ought to get them checked again. The point against it is that I have kept detailed fuel consumption records since I got it - and the fuel consumption has not changed significantly.

How many k's is on your motor?
They are quite cheap to do up, especially as you are more that capable of pulling them out and putting them back in.
I rebuilt a 200 Tdi a while back, it didn't blow smoke, still went fine and started fine. I had the injectors done as a matter of course; I witnessed the bloke test them and saw how poorly they atomised the fuel and how much they dribbled when not firing. It's surprising how worn something can be and still run fine. That motor had 340,000 km on it
My advice would be to do them, cheap insurance I say
To add to that it's quite cheap to simply have them bench tested
That option will only cost you 4 new copper injector seals
Interesting read, think it's No. 4 with regards to lack of use and short trips that explain the problem I had
