    Graysonline Auctions

Hi guys I have been looking at ex-army engines that they have for sale on Graysonline. I have read that most engine part they sell are usually not working! But would you risk buying a complete engine from them?
    Cheers Goran

Starting point for a rebuild ?

Installing the rebuild kit is relatively cheap and straightforward and you can end up with a recon engine ... good engine (with the right gearbox) for earlier coil sprung LRs.

Yea just rang up Graysonline and spoke to the bloke looking after the ex-army stuff and he said "consider all the engines as rebuilders!

What are rebuild kits worth on these engines?

Try get a turbo spec engine with the piston oil squirters etc...will save you a fair bit of money. From memory a rebuild kit is around $1600? Turbo spec with liners.
I paid $2.5k for a 250kk good running truck motor, binned the turbo, gave the manifold away, have just put a new rear main and front crank seal in it, will redo the waterpump and she's good to go.
Sooo tempted to auto it whilst its all out though

Hey Vern, just got a turbo motor from Graysonline! Paid 1870 for it, will cost me $2400 delivered to my place! Then the rebuild begins!

Where did you get your motor from?

Mine came from a guy on gumtree, pulled it from his truck. All the truck wreckers wanted $5+k for one with similar k's.

I'd just drop the sump and have a look first before ordering a rebuild kit

Hey Vern, I will definently pull the motor down and go through it! don't want any suprises.

But I tell ya I am absolutely furious with the apple graysonline app!

while bidding on the engine that I wanted, I decided to check another engine to see how it was going. A message pops up at the bottom of the screen saying I was outbid and to bid again.

So I press it and I put and autobid down assuming the bid was going on that motor! but sure enough It bloody put A bid on the motor I was checking. I couldn't work out how to retract my auto bid so I ended up wining the motor I didn't want. not happy
