Stage 1 isuzu water pump needs replacement

After 34 years the 4bd1 water pump has started leaking, think its due for a new one. Have been quoted over $500 dollars, any suggestions for a better price. Thanks Johny

I've only had mine for four months (after 30 years of wanting one) but is a rebuild out of the question? There's a post on rebuilding for the stage1 (http://www.aulro.com/afvb/projects-t...p-rebuild.html) - is that perhaps an option? I'm also finding several online for far less than $500, but am not sure of your specific model. I've read that the factory Isuzu engine Land Rovers use the excavator engine which may open some other places to look for one.

Some info in this recent thread along with the genuine Isuzu P/N. http://www.aulro.com/afvb/isuzu-land...r-guess-2.html

Bottom line, watch out for the aftermarket pumps being slightly different.

Other option is to get the parts to rebuild it. Cost me about $150 ~5 years ago, but not sure if they are still available.

This one looks the same configuration as the genuine one in Judo's thread I linked to earlier. One of the alternate P/N's matches too:

As above, the ebay one has the right part number. Any of:

    8944398521
    8943768550
    8943768551

$400 from the isuzu dealer is the most you should pay. Overseas ones might be cheaper, but I was in a hurry. I couldn't find any cheaper ones that suit in Australia.

Or if you have the time and tools, a rebuild kit makes sense.
