New 2" springs new adjustable panhard months later settles and old panhard fits!

My project is still dragging on. Two steps forward, one step back. Adapter case and gearbox are again separated and off the engine. Busy cutting floor rust now.

Ages ago I fitted 2" lift King springs to help with the extra weight of the 4bd1t in the RRC chassis (coachwork is not yet on). Found the old fixed length panhard would not make the distance between bolt holes by an inch or more? Same deal with the old shocks.

Some months ago I bought new extra length shocks, adjustable panhard, steering rod and drag link.

    Put new shocks on.

Left the new adjustable panhard on the shelf while I did other things. Left the old panhard attached one end. The other end (that would not reach the distance) left unattached and hanging by wire.

Week ago, thought I might put the new panhard on only to find the springs have sagged enough to fit the old pandhard without issue!

I will fit the new one, as it is chrome moly. But should I force a little overlength into the adjustment - which of course doesn't make sense as you want the axle central for normal road use.

If I leave the adjustable panhard at factory length then I guess at any full articulation with an extra 2" spring will mean the panhard travels a wider arc, and harder on the rubbers?

And given the 2" springs have sagged does that mean 3 degrees caster is not so much a concern?

Haven't tightened any rubbers on the vehicle yet. Will do that once the coach work is back on.

Makes me wonder how the vehicle and axle would sit if I had rushed the new adjustable panhard into place without letting the springs settle.

Its going to sag more once the body is back on! (Assuming its off?)

How come the gearbox and tcase are off and apart now?

Why gearbox off - well that's my 'grubby' secret - that will only be revealed by a 'shaft' of light?

And I'm trying to find time to do the LT230 ratio change. Foolishly I put the 1:1.2 on before really thinking it through. Got the 1:1002 stuff on hand. Plus I want to do an Ancient Mariner type fix for the LT230 centre shaft seal ring leak issue.

I've also bought a D2 Td5 with an immobilised engine, that's taking a bit of time - will get a bit more time and money thrown at it (until the novelty wears off).
