What’s the problem with the car??

Somebody local might be able to assist with getting it rolling so that it can get to a repairer.

Any self respecting mobile mechanic should be able to help. It's just a car.

At many repair shops as soon as they hear the words "Land Rover" their eyes glaze over. Most shops don't want to know about them. The local repair shop that does my other vehicles refuses to book in Peugeot, Citroen, Renault, Fiat, Alfa, some Mercedes models, 5 cyl. Ford Ranger, Land & Range Rovers. Why? "They are a PIA and not worth the bother". I have tried to convince the guy that a County-Isuzu is no more difficult than a Holden-Falcon-Valiant of the 60's -70's but no dice. Other shops do the same. One I know of even has a list in a frame at their reception of cars they don't book in.

Problem may be that young tradesmen under 40 have never seen an old Series or 110. Their bad experiences have been with the Td5 Discos, P38 and other all electronic RR's. These models are notorious amongst repair shops. So are Jaguars.

So what is wrong with it Bigbjorn? Maybe some of us can diagnose if you tell us what the problem is. Then it's just a matter of getting someone to look at it. There is a bloke out in the western suburbs called Mark Paget who used to do work on army 110's which are basically the same vehicle. I don't know whether he still does it anymore and I haven't spoken to him for a couple of years. I have his number at home somewhere but I won,t be back home until Friday.
    Cheers......Brian

The problem is that I am 77 with heart disease and spinal degeneration and can no longer do my own work other than light maintenance. The clutch master cylinder is off the car and the slave cylinder also needs replacing. I broke down(spine) whilst under the car and couldn't get out. Had to be dragged out and helped to stand up. Next thing I had a heart attack before I got back to it. Then tore two of the three tendons in the left shoulder. No repair possible. Classed as very high risk surgery for a person with multiple cardiac conditions.

I used to work with Mark....good mechanic. Not sure he does or would do mobile work.

I haven’t heard from him for awhile now.
