    LEAKING CANOPY

    G/day to the forum,

Question to the owners of the ex army Landrovers or Perenties in particular, the canopy on my daily drive vehicle
seems to be letting in more water than it is keeping out, but the canvas canopy itself is in reasonable condition.

Is there a canvas water proofing agent or trick of the trade known to the forum that could be used to
    help address the problem?

    Cheers.

    Poundsterling,

I use Joseph Luddy Dryseal. I'm sure there are other similar products, but this seems to work well on my Perentie canopy which a reasonable age and thin in spots. I do have the luxury though of having another vehicle to drive on wet days .

I clean the canopy inside and out with a bleach and water mix - 50/50 mix from memory - and then wash down with clean water. Dryseal applied when dry - 2 coats. The canvas has a waxy, slightly greasy feel when dry, and the water beads on it like a polished surface. Which reminds me I must do mine again......

    Cheers, Dave

That is Joseph Liddy, not Luddy, I think. I have found it hard to find lately, perhaps because the solvent content means it is now frowned on, and waterproofing materials that are not solvent based are more PC!

I can vouch for the Joseph Lyddy dry seal. Great stuff. I ordered my last tin from here:

Yes you are right John, "Lyddy" it is. Like Andrew I bought my Dry Seal from an equine supplies retailer, my local Horseland.

    Cheers, Dave
