I assume your Landy is a Stage 1.
Does a Stage 1 have the same steering arrangement as earlier Series vehicles?
Hello, i am new to this and this question may have been asked before so apologies if it has but has anyone fitted power steering to a 4BD1 series 3. I have spoken to 2 landrover mechanics who say there is not enough space in the engine bay, too complicated etc. It is something i really want to do instead of wrestling the bloody car every time i drive it.
Cheers, Scotty

Layout is the same but some of the parts are different, such as the steering relay. (from the manual).
My understanding is that a number of people have done such conversions, the successful ones being to change to a layout similar to the coil sprung Landrovers. My memory says that most use the steering column from a 110, but a steering box from another make.
Obviously there are substantial engineering changes required, and these may be difficult to get approved in some states.
I would suggest a first step to improve steering is to ensure everything is within spec especially tyre width and pressure, although this is not going to help much at parking speeds!

You could easily mount a LHD CPP steering box in the same location and replace the original steering box on a RHD Series 1/2/3 / Stage 1. Adapting the steering column would not be difficult .
Rotation of LHD box is correct for mounting in RHD Landy. The CPP box is the one used for converting '48-'52 Ford F1 (F100) to Power steering . Its based on an early LHD HiLux steering box. I used a Toyota pitman arm.
Use a 12v Astra pump much better than trying to mount a mechanical pump on engine.
They are 3.5 turns lock to lock.
I fitted one to my LHD Dodge Power Wagon which is bigger and heavier than any Series Landy and I'm impressed, passed local VASS Engineering no problems.
You can remove the 'adaptor plate' and make one specifically to suit the LR mounting bracket.
