    Steering PAS Pump Heavy Steering

Hi all the steering in my 85 County (4BD1) has become heavy and I suspect need to replace the gear driven PAS pump. I see these are about $350 from KLR.

Can anyone comment if it is okay to continue to drive vehicle with suspected broken PAS pump and not cause further damage for example to the steering box etc...?
I'm happy to put up with the tight steering until I source and replace the PAS pump but not sure if this will cause damage or is dangerous ie. cause complete steering failure.

If you are going to buy a pump from KLR, why not ask them?
