Thanks John and Tony, the EDIC was the culprit. I disconnected the cable and it started straight away.
I've jury rigged a manual engine stop so at least I can drive it over Christmas and have time to deal with the original fault.
Cheers!

Don't know how available replacement EDIC units are. On recommendation from somewhere on AULRO I purchased an EDIC from Chop Hock Hong, Singapore...back in 2015...Auto-electrical Parts | Chop Hock Hong | Singapore I purchased the EDIC to replace the pull cable in anticipation this would be required to meet vehicle rego requirements on an engine swap. Don't know how this EDIC compares to the County unit.
KLR seem to have the goods Perentie Engine Stop Control Motor - BYG9369
the EDIC motor, the exact one used on county/perenties are the same ones used in many shindaiwa generators round that 30kva - 100kva, from about 10 years ago, as they used the same isuzu engine.
I'd suggest if you remove it and find a local shindaiwa generator dealer they could likely help you. I'm no longer in that industry so I simply dont know now.
Thanks everyone. I was in touch with Chop Hock Hong, they were happy to send one over for 300SD plus 190SD postage...
I ended up having a look on AliBaba (yeah I know) and found one that looks the same, has the same part number. Paid $60, and it's just landed at my door less than a week after I paid for it.
If it only works for a week to get me through the pink slip, I'll take that. Will let you know how I go!
