Hi,
I've got a (I think) a 93' FFR Perentie, and I want to improve the brakes on this vehicle.
I gather there's aftermarket brake servo booster kits (powerbooster kits) out there that work on other Land Rover variants, but could someone point me in the direction of the correct one I might be able to swap into my vehicle that's going to fit and will (hopefully) markedly improve my existing system.
Any thoughts or advice would be greatly appreciated by hopefully someone who's already gone down this path with success. (;->
Thanks for the reply, and a quick bit of history...
I've had the vehicle for some time, had it updated to discs all round, and although it stops, it's always been a handful if towing a caravan or No 5 trailer with a load, to stop quickly!
I've now recently got a problem where it feels like the vacuum booster is failing, and I nearly had to put my foot through the floor and on to the road to pull up the other day while pulling the No 5 trailer. The stopping power has definitely degraded badly.
I've got green pads on the front and plenty of meat all around, and I've always felt the brakes just weren't quite up to it, especially with a load and at speed, and now the situation has worsened, hence my desire to get the booster upgraded if possible.
I don't know if the Perenties suffer the same issue as Defenders, where the booster cracks around the master cylinder, then the harder you press the brake pedal, the more the crack opens up and the more you lose vacuum.
I've not heard of it in Perenties, so I'm guessing they have a different booster, but you never know.

I had the same problem recently, would not pass the rego braking test. It has discs all round.
I replaced the booster, put new seals in the master cylinder & new brake pads all round.
It passed but still not as good as I would like. The master cylinder is 1"1/8 so I am going to try a 1" which will give a longer pedal but more pressure on the pads. If I still need to improve I will try Hydro boost setup.

KLR do/did an exchange service on the booster.

check the line to the CDL control, the lines for the CDL and the CDL actuator first.
a small leak there will rob you of about a third of your brake vacuum, a dropped line will take almost all your vac assist.
