Depends if it is an import ie low k,s its the going rate. If it were a local engine with big k,s way too much.

have them specify what is done for reconditioning. IF its a proper rebuild then your laughing and those engines are a steal. If its just a minor inspection and tune then its a tad high but given the survivability of the motor if they reckon it'll do 50K km in 6 months I reckon it'll go further.

The idea is to fit it in a County diesel. I am considering in selling my Disco and go County or Defender Tdi300.
I am evaluating all the options.
I think that a County fulli rebuilt and with this engine is going to be a nice expedition set up.
Cheers
agreed, if you can swingf it get one with an lt95 box.

It depends on how long the project will take. If you can fit the engine in a weekend then you'll have 5 1/2 months warrantee to sort out any issues. Chances are like most people the build will take more than the prescribed warrantee period, then one the day of the first fire up of the new engine, and it's siezed, you have not a leg to stand on. Saw this happen with an import FJ40 engine once.
Also consider that from an Isuzu truck to a LandRover will involve a few modifications such as 12v starter, sump modification, air filter system, adapter to fit gearbox etc.
Why is going to require all these modifications when the intention is to get a County diesel ? Is the same engine block and head, just change some parts thats all. Correct me if I am wrong
If it is to much of a problem then I will send it to rebuild the original engine and fit a turbo.
Maybe the latter is the best idea ?
Cheers
providing your getting the county with a suzi 3.9 in it theres no need for major conversion work all the bits required will bolt off of the existing 3.9 and onto the new one which will then slot straight in and start giving stirling service. But then so will the old one...
Personally Id have me a very close look at the existing 3.9, you cant kill them with a big stick (but you can with a couple of cups of water down the intake) so if it starts first go, runs ummm smoothish (remeber these things are basically tractor engine technology as far as the automotive world is concerned) doesnt blow smoke under load and isnt making any bad "im going to have my internals for lunch" type metal on metal noises or clanks then Id leave it in there and spend the $$$ elsewhere.
