It was wrongly advertised as a Defender. A 120, this one being an '85 model, is not a Defender. It's simply a Land Rover 120.

Anyway, it's now sitting in my shed half stripped. It does need a lot of work to get it back on the road, but it's basically all there. I'm glad aluminium is easy to beat back into shape cause every panel is dented.
I haven't driven it on the road yet, but the engine starts easily and doesn't smoke excessively.
At a glance, it appears it has been used as a farm ute and hasn't seen the regular maintenance a road going vehicle would get.
It'll be a while before it sees the road again, but it'll get there eventually.

great buy Murray. Very cheap for a 120. It would have been one of the first 5 speed 110s.

Yeah, it was a good buy. The guy who sold it was great to deal with, but he didn't really know what he had.

Please 'scuse my ignorance, but what's so special about the 120? Apart from the obvious that it ain't a 88,90,108,110,130, etc.

Where they produced in limited numbers / just for the Aussie market?

I think what makes them special is that the fact that they are "rare".
