When I've bled my fuel system my engine has run rough for a short time, but only for a minute at the most, then it comes right again.
I have just started doing my own servicing.
I replaced the spin on fuel filter (gen isuzu filter) and ryco inline filter before the lift pump.
I bled the fuel system from the injector pump, the top of the fuel filter housing and the injectors. Fuel flowed from all points other than the injectors.
However, the motor is not running as smooth as it did before the service.
have I stuffed up somewhere?

If you leave the bleed nut loose on the injector pump and the final fuel filter (the one in the engine bay on the engine) while you get your first start then close the filter and the injector bleeders it will bleed out the filter and housing a lot quicker. I tend to start them ,warm them up before I change the fuel filter and then crank it till it fires, hold it flat till it struggles without assistance from the starter motor then when the RPM's start to rise like its going to try and spit a piston (it wont the govenor will limit it below its rated max over run RPMS) then ease up on the noisey pedal till the RPMS are at about mid range. hold it there for about a minute and its bled, one short drive later and your ready to pull the rocker cover and check the vavle lash.

I wish these bled like a Tdi!!!
Mine is a proper pain to change filters etc sometimes. I had a good run last time though, after someone put ULP in the tank and I drained and changed all filters, the thing just started up, spluttered a little and ran fine

thanks everone for the replies. It looks like Ive managed to get all the air out. No air comes out the bleed screw or the top of the filter housing. Dave I'll look this thread up again next time I do a service and try your method.
I runs ok, just a bit more shake at idle than before I did the service.
