The T3 flange was used on the old garrett T3's, some of the garrett T4's and a whole slew of holset (used on cummins) and kkk/schwitzer turbos. The Garrett T3's are commonly found on european turbo cars (volvos, saabs, mercedes) and nissan RB engines. The single turbo from a Nissan RB20 would be a good match and quite similar to what we're looking at in those photos. I think Andrew E uses one.
according to a Garrett brochure I read the T3 is the most common turbo. There seems to be a lot of T25s out there.
I seriously considered a T3 from a SAAB, as had a small a/r on the turbine (hot side).
I ended up with a t25 manifold so went with GT28R. It goes well. Not that I've any thing to compare it with.

The T3 used to be the staple, but some years back garrett changed their entire product line to run on the same design as the smaller T series, that's when they started producing turbos with GT as the model number.Quote:
