This piston was from a 6BD1 kit to rebuild a bus motor.
So that's proof that landrover motors are just old stock, rather than being "special".

most likely but the 6BD1 is just a 4BD1 with 2 extra cylinders. There are a few components that interchange. For example if we run out of bearings for a 6BD1 but have 4BD1 bearings in stock, we just use 2 sets. Same bearing but different part numbers based on the set quantities.
There are one or two exceptions with pistons where one isn't suitable for the other, but basically its a 4BD1+2!!
By the way, who do you get your diesel kits from over there??

That kit I happened to stumble upon. It was incomplete and gathering dust in a workshop so a liquid donation to their social club got it for me.
I get as much as possible through Isuzu truck dealers, but they are now running thin on 4BD1T parts, a good dealer will still order in anything you need but some don't care.
I'd need to be selling drugs (and using them) to pay the prices the Isuzu industrial dealers quoted me.

Aftermarket parts come from Repco and a place called Segedins. Repco is a gamble, sometimes you strike monkeys but sometimes you find a staff member who can find exactly what you want and get it for a decent price.

I've had some issues with aftermarket parts (rings etc), so there are some that I'll only buy genuine.

What is the difference between oil pumps for the 4BD1 and 6BD1?

I'm wondering if it is possible to run a 6BD1 oil pump (or internals) in a 4Bd1-T engine - I assume larger flow from the 6BD1.

I'll ask my bus mechanic mate.

I will see if we have an agent in NZ. The Sydney H.O. handles all the sales for NZ.
As we are an OE distributor, all our items are OE or genuine. Check our websites
