The flywheels are different diameters, so if you used the truck flywheel with the Landy bellhousing, the starter would not engage the ring gear. The truck bellhousing is very short and has the starter in the wrong position.Quote:

Pre 88 the isuzu clutch is 275mm and the flywheel, clutch and pressure plate match the ones you have labelled "landy".
Post 88 the isuzu clutch is 300mm, they changed to the style shown at the top.

I've just received an Isuzu industrial 4BD1 parts catalogue (thank you ebay), so I now have part number references for 8 different bellhousings, 3 different flywheels, direct drive starters in 12 and 24v etc.:cool:

Looking at the relative position of the mounting holes for the pressure plates to the outside diameter, and knowing the landie clutch is smaller, makes me suspect the diameters are probably the same.
The starter motor mounts onto the flywheel housing, and is not affected by the bell housing.
My truck engine has the low mounted 2 bolt starter that interferes with the rangie chassis. This time, instead of notching the chassis, I want modify the flange on the starter and rotate it down so that it clears the chassis.
