What is this AntiSieze stuff about.

some mechanics like to put a lick of antisieze on any thing that is supposed to come apart but is unlikely to on a regular basis or that is likely to be subject to corrosion or mechanical binding. things like wheel nuts, injector bodies, bulkhead and fuel tank mounting bolts.
it comes in several varieties
copper
nickle
zinc
teflon
moly and
synthetics
think of it as reverse loctite.
I advise not putting it on injectors or if your going to be exceptionally careful not to contaminate the sealing face of the injector, the head or the copper washer that seals it all up. the stuff is not rated for combustion temps and will get eaten away by the combustion process and eventually make a path for the combustion process to escape from and once it does that the merriment ensues.
Hey only trying the help the bloke. Yes commonsense should be used when using it. The injectors on our 4BD1T can be removed without any problems at all thanks to antisieze.Quote:

Put glow plugs back in, pulled the fuse to stop fuel flow, plenty of old towels over the top of the motor, cranked ... nothing ..... cranked again for a longer time ..... injectors number 2, 3 and 4 are firmly in place ....... bugga.
Might go back to the slide hammer idea.

Dave, I've seen some so called experts completely stuff some of the simplest tasks, I thank them every day or I wouldn't be earning a quid.
I'm talking to the Freightliner mechanics later in the week when were working there I'll get a few more tips on using antisieze ... NOTE: if I come across something I haven't dealt with before I ask questions till I'm happy to continue, rushing tends to cost, sometimes the cost can be life, I have no intention to become a recipient of a Darwin Award. Previous job had me photographing accident scenes, some people should be neutered to stop them breeding.
Justin, Brooksy should know about now if the trim work for the Sp will be ready in time, Pete the trimmer is very busy at the moment. I forgot to ask Today when we were talking.
