Yea, still need oil, more so for lubrication

What he said. Oil is always needed. Water is only of significant benefit on petrols.

There is a big blurry line between the T25 and T28 ranges. Basically they overlap and many parts are interchangable.
You need specs or a part number to work out what T25 it has.

The factory garrett turbos fitted to the 4Bd1T's and 4BD2T's are T25 family.

Col if you have the chance drop in to Motor Recyclers Queensland at Rocklea. They generally have a Isuzu 4BD1T or a Sino 4BD1T copy with a T25 size turbo. Interesting to compare now you have seen a T28. They market the Sino copies to landrover owners - note how high the turbo sits. I doubt it would fit under a 110 bonnet.

Also, they might have parts your looking for as they wreck motors. You might be lucky and pick up a turbo/manifold combination. More importantly try and get a oil feed/filter housing like in the picture posted by Isuzurover.

The factory Isuzu manifold has a T3 flange, AFAIK the only T25 turbos around with a T3 flange are the ones originally specced for Isuzu.

    Hmmmm.
Is this a wastegated T25? Could be the later 4BD2TC turbo.

    Specs here:
    Isuzu 4BD2T wastegated
    51.3mm/40mm cold, 60 trim 0.48 A/R cold
    55mm/42mm hot, 58 trim, 0.67 A/R hot
    Code XE 0201J
    Isuzu 8971056180
    Garrett 466409-1

We installed the TurboGlide kit in our Isuzu Rangie, (An Auto Electrician mate has name it "Fergie", short for Massey Ferguson after hearing it go) TurboGlide told us that the T25 that they supply in the kit is the same part number as that used in the Army 6WD, I found installation no big problem, keep in mind that we had just installed the engine and gearbox, the rest of the engine bay was empty of almost everything else including the exhaust.

We ran the exhaust so that it loops from outside the chassis rail under the turbo past the body mount then crosses over the chassis back to the inside of the chassis below the firewall then follows the original exhaust system route, we have a stainless steel water tank under the passenger side otherwise the exhaust would have been a straight run to the rear.

Performance was a bit mediocre at first as TurboGlide sets the Turbo to 9PSI, after modifying the wastegate pushrod and adjusting the fuel we now peak at 14PSI with 700 degree EGT max, I now have close to V8 performance again, much nicer to drive, quieter than at 9PSI and impressive fuel economy compared to the V8.

Any chance of a photo Glen?? Have you noticed if it runs out of puff over 100km?

I'm running a little behind updating our site, really busy with rush getting jobs out before the end of financial year, now I'm coming to grips with the Dreamweaver CS4 software upgrade. I'll be getting back into it with some more pics soon.

We haven't done a great deal with our Rangie since finishing the conversion, mostly fine tuning all the bits, re-doing some of the gaskets and seals to cut down on oil leaks, fitting the winch, visits to friends down the coast, and the out-laws up the coast.

Plenty of puff to spare at 100 k's, we still have the 4-speed LT95, if I hit the go fast pedal the boost guage goes up, as does the speed. Only need to go down in gear in traffic or on steep hills.

Keep in mind it's a truck weighing over 2ton not a twin turbo Skyline, I'd easily tow the Skyline and still use less fuel than than the Rice Racer.

    I'm happy

Turboglide might be referring to the manifold only (with bolt on flange adaptor?) as the Perentie 6WD use an IHI brand turbo, as do some Isuzu trucks. Both IHI and Garrett are well respected manufacturers.
