Yep, the 4JJ1 is common rail electronic. Not as complicated as first thought. The industrial engine side of Isuzu use these engines as well and have all the electronic controls available to get it to run. Still doing some work on it but looks promising.

My only concern with industrial controllers is the tune. Industrial probably means tuned for a 10,000hr life. The typical landrover user is more interested in 200,000km of life with better performance and a bigger rev range.

You could put it together with an aftermarket tuning box, but using all Isuzu gear would be preferable.

You are right about the industrial - limited to 2,500rpm but this is the great thing about ECM's - you can tell it how you want it to behave.
