    Flywheels.

    Hi Ichiban

    If I wanted a heavier factory flywheel for my 4BD1T, do you know availabilty and compatibility on any of the following? I got these numbers from an Isuzu industrial parts catalogue. My engine is 85-86 JDM 4BD1T truck.

    My industrial parts catalogue shows 6 different flywheel assembly numbers. A flywheel assembly is the flywheel and ring-gear. Three are pictured and all heavier than the automotive and substantially thicker.

    512330-0560 - PV type for generators
    894135-2140 - PA type for farm tractors (MT7300)
    894131-0620 - TPA type for hydraulic excavator
    512330-2190 - P04-05 type for hitachi UH053 excavators
    894129-7160 - PY1 for hydraulic excavator
    894406-7540 - PTH/PH for hitachi ex120 and ex100 excavators.

    Hey Dougal, the 8943430492 flywheel is what the Army use - I think it is different to truck but not sure if any heavier. Let me see what I can dig-up with the numbers you supplied.

    Some things too kepp in mind are the ring gear count and different flywheel housings which are listed with the different flywheels.

    Also, why heavier?

    I'm currently running 20psi through a small turbo, as a result I can get 17psi boost at 1400rpm. But attempting to use this amount of torque at such low rpm gives me some severe torsional vibrations.
    A heavier flywheel will reduce the size of the torsional vibrations and make life a lot easier on the rest of the drivetrain.

    The Cummins 4BT's run flywheels roughly double the weight of my 4BD1T truck flywheel.

    Have we had any follow up on the suitability of flywheels for landys isuzus, am interested to know myself.
