It seems silly to me to go from a larger frame turbo to a smaller frame turbo, at the very least the flange and turbo could be ported, the spool time will improve and there will be less chance of cracking of the manifold.... I mean they are a 3.9l engine or so and 2.3l petrol engines spool at 2500rpm with a largish ported t3, so a smaller t3 should work fine I'd think?
That is the problem, spooling (as you call it) at 2500 rpm might be fine in a 2.3 litre petrol engine (and is similar to what we see with the 2.5 litre Land Rover Tdi and TD5. But with the 4BD1T we want it at much lower rpm - the useful torque band starts at considerably less rpm.
Dougal, do you have the bolt sizes required? Can't find your email from years ago:(
Finally getting stuck into the rangie again:)
All good dougal, I found your email and have sourced the bolts. Its now drilling and tapping time. Turbo goes on this weekend:)
Finally have some inspiration to get this car finished.:D
Nup. But I will be needing it soon, wanna fire this thing up in a couple of weeks. But now I lay in bed with a shagged back:(, great start to the long weekend. No wonder I drink:p
Dougal, could I please have a set of plans to get an adapter made up? I'll send you a PM.
Does anyony know somewhere on the Gold Coast that could make up a set of these? Or alternatively, does anyone have a spare set they'd be willing to part with?
I may be trying to sell my county, but that doesn't mean I have to stop doing things to it :)
