    Another alternator question.

I see on here numerous references to replacement alternators for the 4BD1, with the ALT160502 being one of them.

I'm currently running a Nippondenso 100210-1150 which is apparently the factory setup for the N/A.
This has a mount 'foot spacing' of 97mm.
(ie. the inside spacing between mating surfaces on the bottom of alternator)

Seems that the suggested replacement alternators, and the factory 4BD1-T alternator (LR170-401) have a 'foot spacing' of 80mm.
As does a raft of other suitable replacements.

Anyways,, to cut a long story short.
Has anybody got a part number, details of, the mount with an 80mm foot spacing?
I guess i could bodge the bigger mount down, but jeez I'm flat out' and workshop-less, so craving a 'bolt up' solution.

BTW. Current mount has code AYG0413 cast on it.

    Cheers

I can't see any numbers on my alternator mount, which is a 4BD1T (80 mm).

If your mount is anything like mine, it would be easy to reduce the width from 97 to 80 mm. Bit of time with a cutoff disc/hacksaw and file if necessary.

Just got caught by this foot spacing issue...

The NA one has a spacing of 97.. and the replacement that I have is 80.

If I cut the mount down, how hard is it to get an other mount if I need to go back to 97?

Has anyone done this? I want to make sure I don't have alignment problems...

The part number for the alternator bracket is AYG0427. This is the one for the 12V 70A Hitachi alternator LR170-401 as found on 4BD1T motors.

I would cut it down as it is unlikely you would go back to the old 45Amp one. Drill and tap the hole deeper before you cut the 17mm off and check the pulley alignment before cutting.
