OK, well all the landie ones had a rocker cover breather.

You sure that one doesn't have a breather? The pipe is tiny, and you must have etter eyes than me to be 100% sure it isn't there in that pic...

However the manual ISUZU showed me had at least 4 crankcase breather setups, and that was probably just for the truck engiones...

I've got another photo of a similar vintage 4BD1 industrial and it shows more clearly the lack of a breather. I don't know what age those engines are though.

I've never seen a factory landrover install in the flesh.

Just picked up a turbo rocker cover and cover plate (for the breather hole) this morning.

The NA rocker cover breater tube is ~8mm, the Turbo is ~17mm.

Seems it would be a bad idea to just blank off the crank breather on the NA engine without fitting the larger tappet cover breather.

EDIT - if anyone wants my old setup (elbow, brass T and tubing), to connect both the NA breathers to a Provent (or similar), let me know.

Especially if you've got a turbo on it.

Mine breathes quite heavily and always has. I recycle it to the intake before the turbo. Via my home-made air/oil seperator.

Some parts are too ugly to post on the interweb.
But I'll get a pic of the air/oil seperator up later.

    *edit*
Oil seperator here: It bolts up in place of the original which just blows the airstream against a flat plate.

None of the truck 4BD1 motors (n/a or turbo) had the sidecover breather. just the larger tappet cover breather. It seems it was just on the industrial version of these motors with the small diameter tappet cover breather..............Brian

Hi Ben, I am still looking for a front crankshaft pulley (harmonic balancer). Dont suppose the motor you got the rocker cover from had one on it? Let me know if it has, please......................Brian

Pretty sure it was still there. Soltoggios in Perth have at least 2 parts motors and another box of bits... Problem is they know how to charge. PM me if you can't find their number...

How much did they charge for rocker cover? I presume it is pressed steel, I would like to replace my cast alloy one to get it a bit quieter.
