    Grease for stop/start solenoid?

I'm going to have to pull everything off my firewall soon (it's being replaced) and I may as well service the electric solenoid - at least I think that's what it is - that operates the fuel shutoff. It sits in a plastic bag on the firewall near the pedal boxes.

A while back I read on here that some of you have stripped, cleaned and regreased this but can't find the threads. I've asked a few people about what grease to use and have got a couple of different answers and several shrugs.

So, once I've pulled it apart what grease should I use? And do you pack the whole housing, or just grease the moving parts?

    Cheers, dave.

    Dave

I pulled one apart once after it stopped working. From memory the gear was nylon/plastic and the worm drive was metal. My gear was stripped so it stopped turning/pulling the cable. It was filled with a yellow coloured grease. I don't know what it was. However, I would probably fill it with some type of low temp grease and some gear oil.

    good luck.

When I thought mine was stuffed I pulled it apart, only to fine everything was OK and it was just a dodgy connection near the pedal boxes. I greased it with marine grease and then wrapped it in duct tape (instead of the original vinyl bag which had perished).
