Hi everyone, new here but have been lurking! does anyone know if the Aisin box, Chevy boxes or jatco boxes would fit physically into a range rover classic? I know there would be work to do mating them up with the landy transfer box to get 4wd.

    thanks

I beleive marks do an adapter to fit the chevy auto to the LT230 transfer. It will probably be longer though which will mean modified driveshafts etc.

thanks for the info Dougal. Was trying to cost a conversion out and was thinking of using as many parts of the original vehicles as possible. If the jatco box isn't up to it then (if I can get hold of one) an isuzu manual or a GM auto might be the way.

    thanks again.

Sorry I don't have any experience with the autos.

A body lift would give more clearance - in engine bay for engine, and the transmission tunnel.

You will also need to check clearance for front drive shaft, and front extension housing of the LT230 beside the auto.

If the transmission is much longer, you will have to address clearance from LT230 to the floor cross member that supports the seats and takes the seat belt loads.

What's the biggest torque engine factory fitted to a ZF?
    BMW 5.0L V12 - 450 Nm (750iL & 850i 1987-1994) - 4HP24.

Don't know enough about ZF's but would a 5HP be able to be modified easily enough?

    5HP30 - 1998 Bentley Arnage 4.4L V8 twin turbo (1998-2000) - 570 Nm
The 5HP30 was fitted to various BMWs from 1992-1997
