    A portal option

    Dynatrac - Confidence to Explore®

I would imagine these portals to be expensive considering a Pro rock 60 housing is around 7k. They provide some interesting info regarding portals. If in the USA you could walk up to your local Mopar dealer and order a set.

Difficult to tell from an advertising photo, but on appearance I think it would be difficult to fit the 4'' width of the portal boxes inside a 16'' well base wheel rim. If I am right then it wouldn't be possible to build a wheel with enough backspacing to counter the effect on scrub radius from the 8'' wider wheel track width.A split rim might work, but they seem to only come in 5.5'' width so the'd need to be widened to suit 35/36'' tyres of the Simex/TSL style. A phone quote from Eastern Wheel Works to widen and recentre a Toyota split rim a couple of years ago was around $350 each
Therefore without using these special rims it is unlikely that engineering approval for legal road registration would be obtainable in Australia.
Although expensive, Marks 4wd adaptors portal kits can be certified for use on public roads in Australia, even Queensland I've heard.

I think it's the vet at Batchelor NT has them on his patrol ute fully legal and I must say, if I ever leave to landy fold that will be what I get, but include the 7.3 supercharged NAVSTAR diesel.

As much as I love my landy and have no intentions of ever getting rid of her if I was to ever do another modded vehicle it would be the patrol as it is just a much stronger base to start from.

You may all throw stone at me for such blasphemy

P.S. mark adaptors supply a Modified 17" rim with the portal modification
