Yep lockers for the traction and how easy you can drive things comparedbto unlocked. 30 spline requires boring stub axles but can use off the shelf toyota centre. The Toyota Hypoid vs Rover Bevel gears is a fair bit of strength without sacrificing ground clearance

Will run early cvs in front with mushroom axles as that will be the weak point

still trying to get my head around the whole spline vs hub thing. Someone on here (or was it rr.net) that there are drawbacks in certain larger splined front hubs.... in relation to needing to be drilled out or something.

I'm investigating 33-35's and trying to keep the list of necessary alterations to fit these correctly, to a minimum.
Complete 80 series diffs would be cheapest option next would be hilux rear and lc80 high pinion front with custom axles.

I have a hilux rear conversion by Jack MacNamara.

30 spline axles require the stub axle to be bored out.

This allows a std Hilux centre to be fitted with lots of gearing and locker options. minor mods for stud location are required and a new pinion flange to bolt to rover tailshaft.

If i was staring out with no parts late 80 Series front and rear would be the go.

I helped a mate convert his diffs with 4.5/1 hilux/lc80 HP centers , i have considered doing it to my disco as well but the axle cost is whats stopping me. We use 1 lc60 long side axle in the front with hilux cv's and the other 3 were jacmac, i wonder if it is possible to cut down rear lc80 axles to fit ?

I prefer the rover stud pattern and wheels and not the ribbing from toyo owners .
